The boys are back in town!
After our Oldenburg adventure … the boys are back in town!
And since, for unknown reasons, we’re once again not playing at JekerJazz this year, we decided to organize our own ‘pre-JekerJazz session.’ Playing through the city center of Maastricht on Saturday afternoon and just seeing what would happen. And a lot happened!

The Hurricane Brassband swirled through the streets with musical stopovers, starting gently from Café De Pieter in the Jekerkwartier, then heading to the Onze Lieve Vrouweplein, followed by Café ‘t Pothuiske at the Bat, and finally landing at the Vrijthof at De Struys (Café In Den Ouden Vogelstruys). There, together with around 40 gentlemen from the Kölsche Fastelovend Verein Rocholomäus, we played and sang a special version of ‘Li’l Liza Jane’ (here a version by the Rebirth Brass Band).
Here’s a glimpse with some music clips below.

- With the wind at their backs over the Kramermarkt in Oldenburg.
With the wind at their backs over the Kramermarkt in Oldenburg.
This week, the Hurricane Brassband performed at the gigantic “Kramermarkt” – the Oldenburg fair – in Oldenburg (Germany). This Kramermarkt is one of the largest folk festivals in Germany and is celebrated every year in September/October in Oldenburg. The market has existed for over 400 years and attracts 1.5 million visitors annually. The Hurricanes once again gave their best for a fantastic audience, both in the traditional parade and at other spots where the wind happened to carry them.

Fortunately, we make much better music than we throw …

Disney doesn’t even come close …

Through the narrow Rur valley, a Hurricane Brassband swirled.
Sometimes, a band doesn’t wait for magic to happen—they bring the magic with them. That’s exactly what the Hurricane Brassband did on a glorious Saturday afternoon in late July, turning the historic streets of Monschau into a symphony of sound and celebration.

Nestled in the scenic Rur valley in Germany’s Eifel region, Monschau—famed for its charming half-timbered houses and timeless allure—became the backdrop for an unforgettable musical escapade. The weather? Perfect. The crowd? Electric. The vibe? Pure joy. From brassy grooves and dancing locals to refreshing drinks and the ultimate currywurst, it was everything a musician—and a music lover—could dream of.
But we’re just getting started.

Waiting for the currywurst …

Whether it’s a sleepy village yearning for rhythm or a bustling town ready to dance, the Hurricane Brassband is on the move. Spontaneous joy, vibrant tunes, and magnetic performances—this is what we bring. Come for the music, stay for the experience.
Want your town to be the next stop on our whirlwind tour? Follow the storm. Feel the groove. Let’s make memories.

- Hurricanes “trödeln” at the Trödelmarkt in Düsseldorf.
Hurricanes “trödeln” at the Trödelmarkt in Düsseldorf.
Amid antique cupboards, vegetables, hats, delicacies and all the other things you would not immediately expect at a market, the Hurricane Brassband played at the Trödelmarkt Aachener Platz in Düsseldorf at Juls 5. With their New Orleans jazzy and brass band music, the Hurricanes “trödelden” on and in front of the stage as well as across the market itself. It turned out that we had landed among a fantastic audience that was singing and dancing along. And that’s what we do it for!
Thanks to Mr Gerke for giving us the opportunity to give the audience and the Hurricane Brass Band a very enjoyable Saturday.

One of those beautiful days in the summer …… The Hurricane Brassband kicked off the summer season with a vibrant performance at the ‘Schlemmermarkt’ (Gourmet Market) in sunny Düren, Germany. With the Hurricane Brassband amidst the warm atmosphere and delightful food and drinks, the Hurricanes set the tone with a refreshing musical breeze, delivering a diverse and captivating New Orleans brassband repertoire.
We would like to Jazz We Can – Jazzinitiative Düren e.V., the municipality Düren for giving us this opportunity and a special shoutout to Mr. Hensgens from Luxembourg for capturing the wonderful moments in photos and video below!

Hurricane Brass Band ‘on the move’ through the Jekerk Quarter in Maastricht.
On Saturday afternoon of the Jeker Jazz weekend, the Hurricane Brassband was ‘on cruise’ through the Jeker Quarter. Fun for the band but certainly also for the audience on the various terraces. Also with many thanks to Café de Pieter and Café ‘t Pothuiske for the ultimate care a band sometimes needs.
